Council had just one item on the agenda for its last meeting of 2021 on December 21. The Tuesday night session agenda focus was approval of the 2022 budget.
The $15 million budget includes a 2.5-per-cent tax increase. For the average house and land in the township valued at $199,000 that means a $33.86 increase in the homeowner’s property tax bill. That works out to $1423 worth of property taxes due when the 2022 tax bills are mailed out.
Property tax amounts for other residential properties will vary depending on their assessed value. Commercial, farmland, institutional, and other types of properties will also have different tax values depending on their classifications and assessments.
