LOWE, Simone (nee Laframboise)
1919 – 2021

Simone Laframboise Lowe passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, just shy of her 103rd birthday. Predeceased (in 1971) by her husband George Lowe and her brother and sisters, she leaves behind many who loved her, including her daughter Sharon and husband Tom Callaghan, son Tom and wife Lynn Palmer, grandchildren Meghan Callaghan, Ryan Lowe, and Rourke Lowe, and an extended family of nieces and nephews. Born in Hawkesbury, Ontario, Simone’s mother was a successful entrepreneur and her father was a deep-water diver who worked in bridge building. She married George Lowe in 1943, and together they travelled for several years throughout Quebec while George worked as an Accountant for the Foundation Company of Canada. They then settled in Lachute where he and his brothers managed Lowe’s Dairy, while Simone raised their family. In her youth, Simone was an avid tennis player and cross-country skier. She was a talented chef creating international dishes well before such cuisine was commonplace. A strong supporter of several organizations including the CWL, the Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Lachute Hospital, Simone also found time to be an entrepreneur, purchasing Auberge Carillon. Working at the Mirabel airport international boutique, she helped customers such as Mohammed Ali find the perfect gift. Simone was well travelled, well read and always current with the latest news. She had a strong interest in fashion and loved to play cards and win! She thoroughly enjoyed a great meal, followed by a delicious dessert. Her greatest sense of accomplishment and joy were her three grandchildren with whom she spent much time in their formative years. Simone is the last of her generation and lived life to its fullest, right until the end. She will be remembered for her keen mind, determination, kindness and unconditional love of her family. A celebration of life is planned in Lachute, in the spring of 2022. Should you wish, donations may be made to The Argenteuil Hospital Foundation or Lachute Regional Residence Foundation.
