The Vankleek Hill Curling Club (VHCC) couldn’t celebrate its centennial last year, the executive and members are excited to get back into regular play for the upcoming season. Draws are scheduled every weekday starting November, and the club is eyeing a potential delayed celebration in 2022.
“The club has been around 101 years – it’s a staple in the community,” said VHCC President Don McNaughton.
A membership costs $260 per season. Junior memberships are $85 for the first two family members and $75 each for the rest. There are also social memberships for both couples and single people. Teams are switched up every month, and members can play as often as they wish.
Mixed Men and Women’s play occurs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, with regular Mixed play in the evenings. Women’s League is Thursday mornings, and Men’s League is Thursday evenings. The club is also looking to recruit more youth members.
Proof of vaccination is required to join, and only one member can sweep the rock at a time. Other than that, play will return to normal. Sign up for the first draw ends October 20, with play beginning November 1, but sign up will continue for subsequent draws; forms are available at the club and on their website.
