The NDP federal riding association for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell formally endorsed Malakos as the party’s candidate during a Friday night meeting over Zoom. He was nominated unopposed, after Sylvie Paquette to instead run for the provincial nomination instead.
Thanking party members for their support, Malakos said he would work hard to address a social, economic, and environment issues in the region, including clear-cutting and flooding, income inequality, and gender, racial, and LGBTIQ2+ racial discrimination. “If the election is called tomorrow, we are ready,” he said.
