Man attacked, cash stolen in Clarence-Rockland home invasion

A Clarence-Rockland man was hospitalized after two men broke into his house and attacked him early on Wednesday.

Police said two men broke into the house on County 8 Road within the Clarence-Rockland municipality before 2:00 a.m. and assaulted the 31-year-old, before fleeing with cash and other items. The victim was treated in hospital, while a female resident was not seriously injured during the incident.

The Russell County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said a handgun was fired inside the house during the robbery. No vehicle was seen when the assailants fled the house.

One of the suspects was described as a white male, about 183 cms (or 6 feet) tall, dressed in black and carrying a grey gym bag with white writing. The other was described as brown-eyed with a thin beard, about 165 cms (or 5 foot 5 inches) tall, and also dressed in black.
