Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) from the Russell County detachment arrested a Clarence-Rockland man during a traffic stop on Montcalm Street at about 2:00 a.m. on Sunday. He was taken to the police detachment for further testing.
Eric Lecompte-Quenneville, 26, was charged with two counts of assault with intent to resist arrest, two counts of uttering threats, and two operation while impaired charges.
In a statement, the OPP said the man was taken to hospital with a serious, but non-life threatening injury “as a result of the accused’s interaction with police”. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) had invoked its mandate and had started to investigate the incident.
