Continuous two-way left turn lanes are to be installed, as well as dedicated left lane turns at Perrault Street, along Highway 34 near Foodland Vankleek Hill from Thursday, October 1. The works, designed to accommodate additional traffic expected from the yet-to-be-opened Tim Horton’s, are expected to be finished by December.
The construction area will stretch along Highway 34 from 160 metres south of Perrault Street to 290 metres north of Perrault Street. Two lanes will remain open for the bulk of the construction period, though shoulder closures are expected.
“All consideration has been given to implement traffic control measures to ensure minimal disruption to the travelling public,” construction company Coco Paving said.
The Ministry of Transportation said construction will include road widening, concrete work, ditching, culvert replacement, private entrance reconstruction and paving.
