Members of the township’s volunteer fire department took to the water in their marine rescue boat late Tuesday afternoon, September 29.
An angler out for a quiet day of fishing on The Nation River ended up in the water when his boat flipped over. The man was holding onto his boat and treading water for about half an hour before someone saw him from the shoreline and phoned 911.
The man was wearing a lifejacket at the time. Fire fighters were soon able to pull the fisherman out of the cold water.
Fire department officials remind residents to always wear a life jacket if they go out boating.
