COGECO will expand its high-speed Internet service in the Prescott County region.

The company, through its subsidiary, COGECO Connexion, will invest $7 million to expand its high-speed broadband network in parts of Eastern and Southwestern Ontario.

“This investment allows us to continue pursuing our ambition to extend our regional footprint,” stated Frederic Perron, COGECO Connexion president, in a corporate announcement released September 16.

The expansion project means 3600 homes and businesses in Hawkesbury, Vankleek Hill, L’Orignal, and Chute-à-Blondeau will have access to high-speed Internet service through the company’s expanded network.

The expansion project means users having access to Internet through the company’s network with download speeds of up to 1 gigabyte per second. The $7 million investment is part of parent company, COGECO Communications Inc.’s commitment to a four-year investment plan amounting to more than $1 billion for expansion of its advanced Canadian broadband network.
