City seeks seeks MAMP  grant

Council approved a recommendation from its committee of the whole to apply to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) for a grant from the Municipal Asset Management Program fund (MAMP). The FCM is managing the grant program for Infrastructure Canada.

The aim of the grant program is to help municipalities make “informed infrastructure investment decisions” with their asset management plans and their annual capital works budgeting.

The money would go towards purchase of special computer software and also training of staff in its use for doing asset management work. As a condition of its FCM application the city would commit to $31,000 from the municipal as its share of the cost for the training and software purchase.

The application guidelines for the MAMP grant also suggest that municipalities should consider the impact of climate change as part of their current and future asset management plans.
