The Clarence Creek Arena reopens for the fall and winter seasons but with new public health precautions for ice time use during the current pandemic situation.

The ice surface becomes available for rentals as of September 8. The arena reopening includes new public health safety protocols to meet the Eastern Ontario Health Unit’s guidelines to reduce the risk of COVID-19 contagion.

The maximum number of skaters allowed on the ice at any time will be 25 while the maximum number of people allowed in the arena complex will be 50. No spectators are allowed in the arena at present and the change rooms and showers will remain closed

The main lobby of the building will be divided into two temporary rooms for skaters to put on their skates. Hockey players and figure skaters must arrive at the arena already dressed and ready t go on the ice once they put their skates on. They will have access to the arena 15 minutes before their booking time begins and must leave the premises within 15 minutes after their rental time ends.

Masks are mandatory for anyone in the arena area. Individuals on the ice may not have to wear masks, but everyone will maintain social distancing inside the arena building.

The community services department will contact regular arena clients to confirm ice times and review details. For information on ice time rentals and to make reservations phone Martine Pigeon at 613-446-6022, extension 2314 or email mpigeon@clarence-rockland.com.
