Just after 10 p.m., August 27, police responded to a domestic dispute in a home on Race Street in Hawkesbutry. A man was arrested and during the initial investigation police recovered two handguns that were reported stolen in 2017 from another Hawkesbury residence.
A 38-year-old Hawkesbury man faces multiple charges from the incident. They include spousal assault, sexual assault, forcible confinement, two counts each of making threats, along with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, and two charges each of careless storage of a firearm and of having knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm.
The name of the man charged is withheld to protect the identity of the victim in the case.
