One event is the Vankleek Hill 2020 Tractor Parade that rolls out August 16 from the local fair grounds at 1 p.m. for a 45-minute tour through the village before finishing up at the fair grounds. Spectators who go outside to watch the parade are urged to observe mandatory masking and social distancing rules.
The Vankleek Hill Fair Society is also sponsoring a colouring contest for children. Colouring sheets are available at the rear entrance of The Review office on Main Street or can be downloaded. Completed colouring sheets must be emailed to treasurer@vankleekhillfair.ca. There is no judging of completed sheets but there is a random prize draw August 15 for all participants who submit completed sheets before the August 14 deadline and include their names and a contact email with their entries. The fair society Facebook page will feature the best entries.
The society also encourages residents to pay their own tribute to the community’s country fair tradition with their own original lawn and outdoor displays on the theme of “Missing the Vankleek Hill Fair. See you in 2021.”
Online musical entertainment is scheduled on the Vankleek Hill Fair Facebook page August 14 and 15, 7 p.m., with Andrew Charlebois of the Charlie Andrews Band on Friday, followed by Mariner’s Curse. Saturday evening’s musical event features Keystrings, followed by Hadrian’s Wall.
