Police officers were doing checkstops in Russell Township just after midnight June 22 as part of the summer Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere program (RIDE) when they discovered a bumper crop of illegal marijuana in one of the vehicles they pulled over.
Constables found almost $9000 worth of unregistered marijuana in the vehicle. A further search turned up three “replica” guns designed to look like actual pistols. Two of the “replicas” are pellet guns while the third is a paintball gun. They also found a scimitar-style long-bladed knife.
Guillaume Hull, 34, of Ottawa is now charged under the Cannabis Act with illegal possession of marijuana for the purpose of selling, and under the Criminal Code with possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He was released on his own recognizance and his case is scheduled for the August 26 provincial court session in L’Orignal.
