Two of Prescott-Russell’s clubs in the National Capital Junior Hockey League scored some end-of-season awards for their trophy cases.

The February 14 All-Star game challenge in Metcalfe, between the East and West divisions of the National Capital Junior Hockey League (NCJHL), finished 7-3 for the West. But it was the end-of-season awards presentation that proved the real winning event of the night for two of Prescott-Russell’s member clubs in the NCJHL.

The Vankleek Hill Cougars received their 2019-2020 East Division Champions pennant as part of the evening presentations. The South Grenville Rangers, who were the West Division champions, also received their honours as well as recognition as the first-overall team in the regular season schedule.

Keean McEachern of the Cougars also received the NCJHL Best Defenceman Award for his on-ice work during the 2019-2020 season. Joining him in the honors’ spotlight was Nicolas Castonguay, as the NCJHL nominee for Best Defensive Forward.

Jacob Servant of the Clarence Creek Castors was named Rookie of the Year for the NCJHL this season. Teammate Andrew Hazard was named for the Bédard Family Memorial Award for his contribution to the team and the league.
