300 plants et 230 grammes de cannabis saisis à Gore

Le Service des enquêtes sur la contrebande de la Sûreté du Québec a mené, récemment, une opération en lien avec la production de cannabis sur le chemin du Lac Chevreuil, à Gore. Les policiers ont réalisé une perquisition dans une résidence, en plus de procéder à l’arrestation d’un homme de 37 ans. L’opération a permis de saisir un peu plus de 300 plants de cannabis, près de 230 grammes de cannabis en vrac, une arme à feu et divers équipements servant à la production de cannabis. Plusieurs policiers du Service des enquêtes sur la contrebande, du poste de la SQ de la MRC Argenteuil et le Service d’identité judiciaire, ont été mobilisés pour la perquisition..—Frédéric Hountondji

Trop d’alcool

La police a répondu à une plainte concernant une dispute familiale, sur l’avenue Du Parc, à Rockland, le soir du 3 décembre. Une femme de 41 ans, de Rockland, a été accusée d’avoir conduit un véhicule automobile alors que son taux d’alcoolémie dépassait 80 milligrammes. Le permis de conduire de la femme a été suspendu sur place pendant 90 jours et le véhicule qu’elle conduisait a été saisi pour une période de sept jours. Elle doit comparaitre en cour provinciale à L’Orignal, le 8 janvier 2020. – Gregg Chamberlain

Impaired driving

A faulty muffler earned a 21-year-old Rockland man several charges. Police stopped a vehicle on December 3,on Laurier, on suspicion of a provincial traffic violation. The driver ended up with charges under the Criminal Code of driving while impaired and driving with a blood-alcohol level exceeding 80 milligrams. He is also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with being a young driver in breach of the zero-tolerance rule for alcohol on his license, driving while his license was suspended, and having an improper muffler. His license was suspended on-site for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.– Gregg Chamberlain

Assault case

An 18-year-old Russell youth is charged with assault and failure to obey a legal undertaking, following OPP investigation of a domestic disturbance incident in North Dundas Township, just after 11 p.m., November 30. The accused was held in custody for a later bail court hearing in Cornwall. – Gregg Chamberlain

Assault charge

A 13-year-old Rockland youth is charged with assault following police investigation of a disturbance, December 4, at about 1:30 a.m., on Rochon Street, in Rockland. Police incident brief states there was an altercation between a youth and an adult. The youth is scheduled to appear in provincial court in L’Orignal at a later date. – Gregg Chamberlain

Fake OPP scam

A phone scam is making its way through Eastern Ontario with the con artist pretending to be an OPP officer calling victims about “fraudulent accounts” in their name. A call-spoofing program makes any call display message read as either “Ontario Provincial Police” or the OPP non-emergency 1-888 number. The scammer asks for personal information, including bank account and social insurance numbers. The OPP warn that they are not doing phone call surveys. – Gregg Chamberlain
