Charges laid in The Nation sexual assault case

Following investigation, the Russell County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges in a sexual assault case.

Shortly after 10:45 p.m. on September 9, Russell County OPP officers responded to a sexual assault complaint in The Nation Municipality. During the investigation, it was determined that a physical altercation occurred between an adult and a youth.

A 43-year-old individual from The Nation was charged with three counts each of sexual assault of a minor, sexual interference, and sexual exploitation, as well as two counts of inviting a minor to sexual touching.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), the identity of the accused cannot be released in order to protect the identity of the victim.
