Ontario’s SIU is investigating death of a 26-year-old man in East Hawkesbury. The incident occurred just after midnight on March 14, when Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a call about a man in distress in St. Eugene. Officers rushed to the residence on Labrosse Street to find a man in severe medical distress, who was rushed to the hospital and later pronounced dead.
The SIU has assigned two investigators and one forensic investigator to the case to investigate the conduct of the officers involved and whether their actions resulted in the man’s death. All SIU investigators are civilians.
