The Prescott-Russell Secondary School Athletic Association (PRSSAA) has chosen Hawkesbury to be the host community for the association’s first arm-wrestling tournament.

The PRSSAA Arm-Wrestling Championship takes place at École secondaire catholique regionale de Hawkesbury (ESCRH), with the first bouts starting at 9:30 a.m., following an information session for competitors on tournament procedure and safety.

Tournament officials expect to have 180 athletes from 12 schools across the Prescott-Russell region competing in the junior and senior boys and girls divisions. Noted professional arm-wrestling personality Devon Larratt will be guest ambassador for the tournament. The event will also be live-streamed.

Taking part in the inaugural event are teams from ESCRH, Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute, École secondaire catholique Embrun, École secondaire catholique L’Escale from Rockland, South Carleton High School, École secondaire catholique Le Relais from Alexandria, St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School from Hammond, École secondaire publique Le Sommet of Hawkesbury, École secondaire catholique de Plantagenet, Glengarry District High School, L’Académie de la Seigneurie of Casselman, and Russell High School.
