The City of Clarence-Rockland issued an update on November 1 regarding the cyberattack. The cybersecurity team hired by the city has determined that there is no evidence that personal data was accessed or stolen. Personal information is encrypted in the city’s servers, meaning anything the hackers managed to get to would be unusable.
The investigation will continue until the full breadth of the attack is known. Meanwhile, city operations continue, and municipal emails service has been restored. Anyone who tried to get into contact with a municipal employee by email in the last week is advised to resend the email. The processing of pre-authorized payments will be delayed as the investigation and restoration of service continues, but no late penalties will be applied.
The City thanks you for your patience and understanding.
