Russell County Ontario Provincial Police are investigating thefts at a hardware store and grocery store in Embrun and are requesting the public’s help in identifying the two suspected thieves.

Around 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, a male and female attended the Embrun hardware store and are suspected of stealing a $1,000 Makita saw.

Both individuals entered the store and browsed the merchandise. The male left and the female grabbed a box containing the saw and left the store without attempting to pay.

Six days later, on July 26, around 3:35 p.m., a female matching the description of the hardware store suspect entered an Embrun grocery store, filled a beige bag with meat products and left without paying. A loss prevention officer attempted to stop her. As she punched and kicked the loss prevention officer, an unknown male intervened and the two suspects escaped, according to police.

Police have provided a description of the two suspects seen to be driving a newer model black four door Chevrolet Malibu, adding that they believe the two individuals are also involved in similar incidents in North Grenville and Pembroke.

The male from the hardware store is described as white with a slim build. He is clean shaven with black hair styled with a fade. He was wearing a Toronto Blue Jays cap, black converse shoes with white soles, black shorts and grey shirt. Security camera images show he has a tattoo on the back of his right hand and left arm.

The female in question is described as white with a medium build and blonde hair. During the theft at the hardware store she was wearing a black tank top, black pants and white shoes. She has a tattoo on her upper back and right forearm ending above the elbow. At the grocery store, she had her hair up with a red crop top and black pants.
