Rescheduling needed for vaccine second doses

Rescheduling needed for vaccine second doses

The Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) issued a notice about appointment changes needed for people waiting to get their second dose of vaccine. The mass vaccination clinics are expected to end by August 27.

That means more than 16,000 people already scheduled to receive their second dose of vaccine through the mass vaccination program must get their appointments changed to an earlier date. This applies to anyone who was scheduled for their second vaccination on August 28 or another date later in the season.

The decision to end the mass vaccination clinics program is because of the success of accelerated dosing of residents age 12 and older in the EOHU region. There is still an ample supply of vaccine for people scheduled to receive their second dose after August 27 but they must now rebook their appointments to an earlier date.

Rebooking can be done at www.Ontario.ca/bookvaccine or through the toll-free Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1-833-943-3900. Anyone with questions can call toll-free at 1-888-999-6488.

Anyone unable to rebook their appointment should also consider going to the nearest pharmacy that provides vaccinations
