The City of Clarence-Rockland is looking to hire additional firefighters for its fire stations in Bourget, Clarence Creek and Rockland.
The City is hosting an information session on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the Rockland Fire Station, located at 1550 Laurier Street at 7 p.m. and are asking anyone interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter to attend the session.

The requirements to become a volunteer firefighter, which will all be explained at the information session, are as follows: applicants must be 18 years or older; must be in good, physical condition; must be a resident of the city of Clarence-Rockland; applicants must have completed grade 12 or its equivalent; must be able to communicate in both French and English (written and oral); must have a valid driver’s license and have their own transportation; must be able to obtain a Class « DZ » permit within the prescribed time offered through the Clarence-Rockland Fire Department; successfully completed a comprehensive medical exam; successfully pass a written test, , an agility test (related to the fire station) and any other test required by the Clarence-Rockland Fire Department (e.g., ladders and breathing apparatus).
Volunteer firefighters hired by the City of Clarence-Rockland Fire Department will be required to successfully complete the regional training program within the prescribed time frame in order to maintain their position with the Fire Department.
