OPP Continue Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Collision

Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is continuing to investigate a fatal collision that took place on May 15. 

At approximately 9:40 p.m., officers, along with the Prescott-Russell Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Russell Township Fire Services and the OPP’s Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team responded to a collision on Craig Street, west of Hamilton Road in Russell. 

Initially, the information given indicated that a collision occurred between a motorcycle and an SUV. 

Shortly after, OPP and EMS arrived on the scene, where the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased. 

The driver of the SUV was transported to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. 

The motorcyclist had a suspended drivers’ licence. 

Craig Street between Hamilton Road and Boundary Road remained closed until 7:25 a.m. on May 16.   

The investigation is on-going.
