Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested four motorists for impaired driving on May 16 and 19 in The Nation, Rockland and Embrun.
On May 16, shortly after 11:00 p.m., officers in The Nation stopped a speeding vehicle.
During the investigation, officers utilized an Approved Screening Device (ASD), the driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old from Embrun was charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus, speeding (96 kilometres per hour in a 60 kilometre per hour zone), and driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.
On May 19, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers in Rockland stopped a motorist after observing a vehicle passing another vehicle unsafely.
During the investigation, officers utilized an Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old, from Caledon was charged with operating while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.
A little more than two hours later, at approximately 3:20 a.m., officers in Embrun conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle believed to have an improper licence plate.
During the investigation, officers utilized an ASD, and the driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old, from Repentigny, Quebec, was charged with operating while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.
On the same day, shortly after 9:40 p.m., officers completed a traffic stop on a vehicle after almost being hit head-on.
Again, during the investigation, officers utilized an ASD. The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.
An 82-year-old, from Casselman was charged with operating while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.
All four motorists received 90-day driver’s licence suspensions and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.
All individuals are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.
The release made by the OPP didn’t not indicate where the arrests were made.
