Hawkesbury police warn of counterfeit bills, looking for suspect

The Ontario Provincial Police is warning of counterfeit $100 bills circulating in the town of Hawkesbury and are seeking help to identify a suspect.

According to police, on March 9, an unknown male was seen making a purchase at a local restaurant with a counterfeit $100 bill. Police believe the same male attempted to make other purchases with the counterfeit money on March 11 at a bank, and on March 12 at a pharmacy.

Security cameras captured a video of the suspect described as a white male with a black moustache and beard, and curly black hair.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Hawkesbury OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous calls can be made to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- 8477 (TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.

The investigation is ongoing and officers are working on any leads they may have.
