They were all there. Ghosts and goblins. Fairy princesses and superheroes. All enjoying Halloween on Main Street in Hawkesbury.

The Friday evening event is a joint annual project between the Town of Hawkesbury’s recreation department and the Hawkesbury Business Improvement Area. Main Street between the William Street and McGill Street intersections was closed to vehicle traffic to create a large pedestrian-only area children in costume to go walking around for trick-or-treating fun at several kiosks set up by local businesses, schools, and others.

Many businesses remained open after their normal closing hours and the staff at those stores and restaurants also got into the Halloween spirit by dressing up and handing out treats to the children. Several businesses outside of the closed-off Main Street area also remained open and offered treats for trick-or-treaters.

Several businesses also worked together to set up a “Spooky Tour” sidewalk attraction that proved very popular.
