The Vankleek Hill Cougars aren’t having a great start to the month.
Contrary to their fantastic five wins in September, the Vankleek Hill Cougars aren’t doing so well this month. They had two games during the October 7-8 weekend, and unfortunately they lost both.
Right out of the gate in the home game on October 7, the Gatineau-Hull Volants established a large lead, scoring five goals in the first period and five more in the second period. No amount of fighting and clawing from the Cougars could manage to make up the gap, and they lost that game with a 12-4 final score.
The Cougars’ four goals were scored by Jérémy Marcotte, Joshua Desjardins, and Zachary Sullivan, assisted by Alexander Perry, Brenden Easterbrook, and Rowan Mcpherson.
The next day at the Ray Friel Recreation Complex, the Cougars fought to redeem themselves against the Cumberland Castors. This game was much closer, neither team giving the other any headway as they battled to push the puck past the goalies. Vankleek and Cumberland both scored a goal in the second period, but the Castors scored another in the third, and the Cougars were unable to make it up before the final buzzer sounded, leaving them with another loss at 2-1.
Their goal was scored by Bruno Laframboise, assisted by Malcolm Seguin and Mathieu Belanger.
