Hawkesbury OPP arrested a man who may have been walking around the downtown area carrying a gun.
The OPP detachment received a call after 10 a.m., Thursday, about a man seen carrying something that looked like a gun. The man was seen walking along the Main Street area of town.
Police drove to the area, found and arrested a 29-year-old Hawkesbury man. He had what police believe was an antique firearm in his possession.
While dealing with the incident, police had advised administration for all schools in the immediate area to put in place Hold and Secure protocols for their facilities. Students were kept inside school buildings pending further notice.
After police took the man into custody, they notified school administration to rescind the Hold and Secure order, allowing students and staff to go outside again.
No further details, including charges pending from the incident are available right now.
