UCPR council has authorized the pre-emptive commencement of future road improvements based on a 2021 study.

Earlier this year United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) council approved a resolution that authorized the Public Works Department to prepare a Community Traffic Impact Study for Russell Township and The Nation Municipality at a shared equal cost. A few months later, council approved another resolution for another traffic study on the Municipality of Casselman.

The studies were meant to investigate the need for future road improvements, the triggers for those improvements, and the financial impact of each development. They were also meant to establish fair and equitable means of splitting capital costs between the UCPR, the local municipalities, and private developers.

Council approved a recommendation that authorized the UCPR public works department to proceed with the implementation of the cost-sharing allotment for all the mitigation measures recommended in the report, and to collect financial compensation from private developers and landowners by entering into cost sharing agreements.
