On January 27 and 28, Manitoulin Transport, a transportation company based in Ottawa and Pembroke, gave several charitable donations to worthy causes across the region as part of their Operation Mani-Claus. The majority of contributions this year were made to food banks, soup kitchens, and toy drives.

Manitoulin donated $2500 to the Casselman food bank on January 27, and the next day on January 28, company officials presented a cheque for $2700 to the Embrun food bank. This is in addition to a further $5,795.15 that was gathered from the Embrun Christmas Market held in the Camille Piché Community Centre.

Terminal manager Tyler Bégin said that Manitoulin encourages other companies to follow their example.

“Donations are made in local communities all across Canada where Manitoulin has established Terminals,” said Bégin. “As part of our ongoing commitment of making a difference locally in rural communities, Manitoulin will continue to do our part ensuring food banks like Casselman and Embrun are getting the support they need.”
