The Vankleek Hill Cougars claim all four points over the weekend with wins against Almonte Inferno and South Grenville Rangers.

Cougars started the weekend at home Saturday with a 6-2 win against Almonte Inferno. Cougars started the game slowly according to head coach Franky Dopelhammer, but finished off on a high note, scoring four goals in the third period.

“It was a bit scrappy early on, but it really started to click at the end” said Dopelhammer.

A hattrick came from Maxime Laliberté, and other goals came from Joshua Desjardins, Sam Guay and Andy Lightle Blay.

Cougars took the game to the South Grenville Rangers on Sunday afternoon in a 4-2 away win. Goals came from Mikael Bissonnette, Joshua Desjardins, Andy Lightle Blay and John Mahoney.

“It was a perfect game” said Dopelhammer.

With six games left until the end of regular season, the Cougars are looking to get ready for the playoffs.

“We have some very big games ahead of us,” said Dopelhammer. “What we’re really looking for is consistence.”

Cougars are currently standing in fifth place with 35 points in the National Capital Junior Hockey League standings, tied with St-Isidore Eagles who have a game in hand.
