The UCDSB has unanimously approved its budget for the next school year.

During their regular meeting on June 1, the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) trustees reviewed the proposed budget for the 2022-2023 school year, presented by Executive Superintendent of Business Services Jeremy Hobbs. The total budget sits at $403.5 million, with $200,000 marked as a surplus and the rest going towards expenses.

Some highlights from the budget meeting include $50 million for special education, $1.3 million for mental health and wellness supports, $5.2 million in Indigenous education supports, $600,000 for remote digital learning, and $1.6 million for student technology, including $500,000 in broadband network operations funding. The budget also notes $65 million for investments in school and child care capital construction.

The budget was forwarded for final approval to the Ministry of Education.
