During their regular meeting on June 1, the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) trustees reviewed the proposed budget for the 2022-2023 school year, presented by Executive Superintendent of Business Services Jeremy Hobbs. The total budget sits at $403.5 million, with $200,000 marked as a surplus and the rest going towards expenses.
Some highlights from the budget meeting include $50 million for special education, $1.3 million for mental health and wellness supports, $5.2 million in Indigenous education supports, $600,000 for remote digital learning, and $1.6 million for student technology, including $500,000 in broadband network operations funding. The budget also notes $65 million for investments in school and child care capital construction.
The budget was forwarded for final approval to the Ministry of Education.
