During the regular meeting on May 16, Clarence-Rockland council approved a resolution to sign an agreement with the CIH Academy to take over the management of the Clarence-Rockland Arena. The arena has been managed by the CIHA since it opened in 2011, but effective August 1, Clarence-Rockland will take over operations.
« In the early 2000’s, Mr. Robert Bourdeau envisioned a hockey academy with professional facilities that would receive international athletes, » said Mayor Mario Zanth. « The municipality can count itself lucky that this major project was conceived in the City of Clarence-Rockland. The Academy has been an early partner for the City of Clarence-Rockland by managing the municipal arena since its opening in 2011. With this change in management, the City of Clarence-Rockland will be able to offer a full range of on-ice services in our two infrastructures located in Rockland and Clarence.”
It has been our pleasure to manage the arena and to provide interesting and challenging sports programming for the youths of the area. I would like to thank the municipal council and the administration for their support, but also the residents for their encouragement and participation over the past decade. The Academy will focus on the continued growth of its school and educational programs.”
Sports associations in Clarence-Rockland will be contacted soon to discuss further details and give contact information. There will be no interruption of service during the transition.
