Man who caused fatal collision in Hawkesbury identified

On November 12, 2021, at 8:25 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a call on McGill Street in Hawkesbury. Gilles Lefebvre, age 59, of Hawkesbury was charged with careless driving causing death after he struck a pedestrian with his car. 27-year-old Melissa Girard of Hawkesbury was pronounced dead at Ottawa Civic Hospital after being transported there from the scene with life-threatening injuries.

Lefebvre is scheduled to appear in court in L’Orignal on June 6.
