During the regular meeting on April 4, Russell Township Council reviewed and approved the layout and financial plans, moving the project forward into the detailed design phase. It will include detailed drawings for the structure, façade, landscaping, lighting, heating, cooling, and other elements.
“After many public consultations and discussions at the Council table, we now have a plan for the Recreation Complex that fulfills the communities’ priorities, meets our financial planning goals, and realizes Council’s vision for the future,” said Mayor Leroux. “We look forward to seeing the conceptual plan come to life in the detailed design.”
The recreation complex is slated to include an indoor pool, three hockey arenas, a community hall, a gymnasium, and a bowling alley. Updates will be reviewed by council on a regular basis. Currently, these updates are scheduled for November 2022, January 2023, and March 2023.
“We are very pleased to have reached another milestone in the Recreation Complex project,” said Céline Guitard, Director of Parks and Recreation.
Currently, construction is set to begin in Fall 2023.
