The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating the death of a man in East Hawkesbury.

Ontario’s SIU is investigating death of a 26-year-old man in East Hawkesbury Township. The incident occurred just after midnight on March 14, when the OPP responded to a call about a man in distress in the Village of Saint-Eugène.

Officers arrived at a residence on Labrosse Street to find a man in severe medical distress, who was then rushed to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

The SIU has assigned two investigators and one forensic investigator to the case to investigate the conduct of the officers involved and whether their actions resulted in the man’s death. All SIU investigators are civilians.
