Necessary documents have been received and a construction permit has been issued for the latest addition to Casselman’s commercial profile.

According to Casselman Mayor Daniel Lafleur, construction of the new Ford Motor Company of Canada distribution centre is slated to start by the beginning of March. The development of the 540,000 square-foot distribution warehouse is being managed by Rosefellow Developments and Bertone Development Corporation, and saw its groundbreaking ceremony on September 17, 2021

Documents from the South Nation Conservation Authority and the Ontario Ministry of Transportation were both required before a construction permit could be issued. Casselman’s Chief Building Official could only issue the permit after the documents arrived in the last week of January.

The new distribution centre will be located south of Highway 417 near the St-Albert Road/Prinicipale Street interchange. It will replace the company’s current distribution centre near Toronto, and Mayor Lafleur expects it to bring much industry to the area. The completion date for the centre is expected to be around February 2023.
