While returning home from the Tim Horton’s on November 12 at 8:25 p.m. on McGill Street in Hawkesbury, Mélissa Girard was struck by a car. Although she was rushed to the hospital, her injuries were too great, and she was pronounced deceased soon after arriving.
Now, Girard’s brother Jean-Michael has started a GoFundMe to help pay for funeral costs, and to help support her orphaned 7-month-old son Zackiël. The formalities must be observed before government assistance can be given to support Zackiël’s care, so Jean-Michael is asking for donations.
At the time of writing, the GoFundMe had reached $3,000 of its $10,000 goal. Visit https://www.gofundme.com/f/pour-mlissa-et-zackil to donate and leave well-wishes for the family in this tragic time.
