Clarence-Rockland considers amending waste collection schedule

In a Special meeting on September 27, Clarence-Rockland council reviewed a report by Blackline Consulting surrounding decreasing spending and increasing efficiency within the township. While most of it consisted of adopting new technologies and policies within town hall, one of the suggestions was to amend the garbage collection schedule.

Currently, garbage is collected once a week and recycling is collected once every two weeks. The report recommended switching these, so that garbage is collected every two weeks and recycling is collected once every week. The rationality for this decision was not expanded on, but it would presumably encourage people to recycle more as opposed to just throwing everything in the trash. It could also be that the amount of recycling residents put out is too much for the current infrequent collection.

No decisions were reached regarding the report; it was simply for the information of council.
