The two senior-level governments have approved $10.2 million from the Investing in Canada Infrastructure program under the COVID-19 Resilience category. The money will help the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) with building improvements at 73 schools and the three T.R. Leger School of Adult, Alternative and Continuing Education facilities to deal with COVID-19 prevention and risk-reduction issues.
Improvements include: upgrades to the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems at three sites, two new replacement portables at one site, window replacements at two sites, 302 bottle-filling stations at all facilities, and also 445 power doors with no-touch sensors at school buildings.
Childcare facilities at some schools will also have upgrades, along with improvements to outdoor fencing at some schools, new washrooms, video intercoms, and enhanced Wi-Fi.
The goal is to have all improvement work done by late autumn this year.
