Russell County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers stopped the vehicle, travelling eastbound near the Limoges exit, at about 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30. Police said officers searched the car after the driver was found to have contravened the Ontario Cannabis Act.
In a statement, the OPP said police found nearly 160 grams of suspected fentanyl, and 110 grams of crack cocaine and cocaine combined. The drugs had an estimated combined street value of almost $27,000.
David Ivan Trombley, 22, was arrested and charged with three counts of drug trafficking, failure to comply with a release order, and unauthorized possession of a firearm. An arrest warrant was issued for a second person who fled the scene on foot.
Trombley was due to face the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on January 8.
