A contractor has been chosen to build the new Prescott-Russell Residence.

The United Counties of Prescott-Russell council (UCPR) approved a bylaw authorizing an agreement between the UCPR and Kanata-based Hein Construction. The bylaw was approved during a special session of the UCPR council on December 17. Chief administrator Stéphane Parisien told council that his department had been waiting for the provincial government to approve the final selection of Hein Construction as the project’s general contractor.

“The approval came in the mail this week,” Parisien said. “We’re pretty happy about it.”

Hein Construction presented the winning bid of several contenders for the project, based on a list of qualifying conditions, including price quote for the contract. The company’s bid for the contract amounted to $70,610,000, excluding HST.
