Method is voluntarily recovering a batch of “sweet water” fragranced gel hand wash after bacterium was found.

The recovery affects one lot number of the 12 ounce gel hand wash bottles. They had been sold at Walmart and Home Depot since mid-October.

Anyone who bought the product from those stores during that time can visit www.methodhsrecovery.com and enter the product lot number found on the bottle to determine whether the item was part of the recovery. The website also contained details on how to dispose of the product and obtain a full value refund.

In a statement, Method said all other products from the company, including “sweet water” refills, were unaffected and could continue to be used. It said the lot number was recovered due to the discovery of the bacterium pseudomonas bacteria, from which there was a risk of infection for immune-compromised individuals.

“While this bacterium rarely causes harm to healthy individuals, there is a risk of infection for individuals with a compromised immune system,” the statement said. “We take any risk very seriously, so we’re voluntarily recovering these bottles from retailers and consumers.”

More information about the recovery can be found at www.methodhsrecovery.com.
