Seven people have died since a COVID-19 outbreak at the Prescott and Russell Residence was confirmed on October 9.

Two more deaths were announced on Thursday afternoon. The news accompanied the announcement of another 16 confirmed cases at the residence, made up of nine residents and seven staff members.

Eighty-one residents and 53 employees have returned positive tests since the outbreak started. Of those 134 cases, 55 had been resolved and 72 were active.

An Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) briefing on the region’s overall COVID-19 situation is expected on Friday afternoon.
