Street signs stolen in Champlain

Speed limit, railway and deer crossing, road names and new stop-ahead warning signs were among those stolen. Police said the thefts were centred on Sandy Hill Road, Ste-Anne Road, Bangs Road, March Crescent and May Crescent.

“While this may be considered a prank by some, under some a missing road sign could result in a serious or even fatal collision,” the Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment said in a statement.

“These incidents also result in additional costs to municipalities, as the signs can cost up to $200 to replace, in addition the cost of labour.”
