The city is making the landfill site on Lalonde Road in Bourget open to the public once more on May 5. This also includes access to the on-site recycling depot for disposal of recyclable metal, safe storage of certain kinds of household hazardous waste for later disposal, storage of used tires for proper disposal or recycling, and also dumping of grass and garden clippings for composting.
The landfill site reopens 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5. The city has set up a specific public access schedule for the landfill for the period from May 5 to May 16.
The landfill is open May 5 and May 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., on Friday May 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday May 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The mid-May schedule is 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on May 12 and 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 15, and on Saturday, May 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. After the May 16 weekend, regular summer hours for public access are in place.
All dumping fees must be by credit or debit card. No cash payments are allowed. Residents must present their driver’s licence to the landfill attendant for proof of residency. Once the vehicle is on the weigh-scale, remain inside and use the intercom to contact the landfill attendant.
City officials expect a large number of residents coming to the landfill when it reopens. A limited number of vehicles will be allowed on the site at the same time for disposal of trash. Everyone is asked to be patient and wait inside their vehicles for their turn to go into the site to deposit garbage.
