It will be a quiet Canada Day in Hawkesbury this year.

The municipality will not hold any Canada Day celebrations on June 30 or July 1 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Officials have decided to maintain current provincial pandemic protection guidelines which forbid public gatherings of more than five people “which make these events impossible for the moment” according to a municipal news release.

Town staff are reviewing other options for marking Canada’s anniversary and will announce an alternative plan as soon as possible.
