The larger-than-life-sized statue, located at the intersection of Longueil Street and County Road 17, adjacent to the Fresko Restaurant in the Village of L’Orignal now has permanent spotlight composed of 5400 bright white ornamental Christmas light bulbs wrapped around the trunk and upper limbs of the tree behind it.

The owners of Freskos Restaurant, Abass Miah and Natalie Miron, and restaurant manager Marie Beaudet, are responsible for the new light show display. Champlain Township acquired the moose statue more than a year ago as a symbol for the village and set it up at its present location to serve both as a roadside attraction for tourist traffic and also to help promote village pride.
Earlier this year, the township received an offer from the restaurant owners to provide a permanent night-time light display for the statue, with Freskos Restaurant providing the bulbs, 1350 feet of electric light display cords, and paying the electricity cost to light everything up all night, every night, all year, on a permanent basis.
Staff from Sproule Powerline, along with Michel Lalonde and Marc Beaudet volunteered their time to wrap all the light cords and bulbs around the tree trunk and limbs. The township covered the installation costs.
